Pursuing Righteous Paths
Pursuing Righteous Paths
We live in a complicated world; we benefit from God’s guidance
Topic: To have a fuller and a more complete life is the result from following God’s guidance or leadership.
1. “Pursue” means to chase or seek something. Believers pursue Godly behavior to better themselves and to honor God
2. What the word righteous means? Some common synonyms of righteous are ethical, moral, noble, and virtuous.
3. Our path refers to the way we live and what we decide to do with our limited time on earth.
LIFE IS A CHOICE FOR THE PATH YOU ARE GOING TO FOLLOW.
Mankind’s path life is easy, attractive, and popular.
It is directed by impulse and self-centeredness and doesn’t recognize or follow God’s standards.
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.” – Proverbs 14:12.
NOTE: MANS PATH IS A RUT – AN OPEN GRAVE WITH TWO OPEN ENDS
Guidable people look to God and not to themselves.
They look to God to fill their life, verses being full of them selves.
God blesses those who will listen.
When we follow the Lord’s instructions, we’ll have a sense of peace, contentment, and joy—even while walking through trials and suffering.
It is directed by the Lord’s standards of rightness, guided by his wisdom, and empowered by his Spirit.
He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. - Psalm 23:3
NOTE: HE LEADS ME IN AN ABUNDANT LIFE
Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a light to my path”
NOTE: HE LEADS US ON A PERSONAL JOURNEY
The Lord is never too busy to listen to us when we come to Him for guidance.
He’s given us wonderful promises to encourage us when we’re in need of His guidance.
Psalm 37:23 “the steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way”.
"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with mine eye." Ps. 32:8.
NOTE: THIS IS A PERSONAL COMMITMENT FROM THE LORD GOD.
Guided by God’s Grace
The ancient Israelites had little trouble knowing where God wanted them to go next. They just kept an eye on the cloud and followed it. Today, God is still God, and he has promised to guide his people always. Being guided by God is a tremendous privilege. But he no longer uses a cloud to lead us.
Proverbs 3:6 “in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths”.
God’s guidance is all inclusive. It encompasses everything we need to know to make the right choice.
For Truth, Wisdom, Discernment, and Protection.
God leads as a shepherd
Ø God leads us beside the still water and restores our souls
Ps 23 NIV
“1 A psalm of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not be in want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever”.
God leads us with a song in the night.
Ø Yes God leads his children on with a song.
In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,
God leads His dear children along;
Where the water’s cool flow bathes the weary one’s feet,
God leads His dear children along.
Refrain
Some through the waters, some through the flood,
Some through the fire, but all through the blood;
Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,
In the night season and all the day long.
Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,
God leads His dear children along;
Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,
God leads His dear children along.
God leads the way with Love & Happiness’s.
Ø Gal 5:22-25 NIV
22” But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25 since we live by the Spirit let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
