What an Awesome God is ours
Matthew 6:9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,
To hallow a thing is to make it holy or to set it apart to be exalted as being worthy of absolute devotion.
To hallow the name of God is to regard Him with complete devotion and loving admiration.
God's name is of the utmost importance (Neh 9:5); therefore we ought reserve it a position of grave significance in our minds and hearts.
We should never take His name lightly (Exd 20:7; Lev 22:32), but always rejoice in it and think deeply upon its true meaning.

"Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory [is] above the earth and heaven."
In the Old Testament times, a name was not only identification, but an identity as well.
Many times a special meaning was attached to the name. Names had, among other purposes, an explanatory purpose (e.g., Nabal, whose name means "fool," is the target of Abigail's explanation to David: "For as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him:" - 1Sa 25:25).
Throughout Scripture God reveals Himself to us through His names. When we study these names that He reveals to us in the Bible, we will better understand who God really is. The meanings behind God's names reveal the central personality and nature of the One who bears them.

God is self existent, all powerful, all present, all knowledgeable, and transcendent.
In Ex 3:14, God said to "I AM WHO I AM”
We don’t have to defend him, explain him, or prove his existence to any person. In fact his invisible qualities are plainly seen by all men.
God is the beauty we see and experience in life.
God is the author of all things good and wholesome.
God is love, and his love the most powerful transforming experience we can have. In fact he created us to be in his very image.
Illus: The absence of warmth or heat is cold, the absence of light is darkness, and the absence of God’s holiness is evil. Where he is received there is joy, contentment, and peace, where he is rejected there is chaos and pain.
Sadly, many have lost something very valuable. Something extremely important. Many have lost their view of who God really is.
Deut 4:7-8
7 What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord our God is near us whenever we pray to him?
Deut 7:9
9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.
Deut 10:17
17 For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.
Deut 33:27
27 The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.
Ps 18:2
2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Ps 46:1-3
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
Ps 56:9
9 Then my enemies will turn back when I call for help. By this I will know that God is for me.
Ps 84:11
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.
Ps 116:5-6
5 The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. 6 The Lord protects the simple hearted; when I was in great need, he saved me.
Isa 12:2-3
2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." 3 With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
Dan 9:8-9
9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him;
1 Cor 10:13
13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
1 John 1:5
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
1 John 4:8
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Application
Who is God to you?
Is He your Most High God, All sufficient One, Master, Lord of Peace, the Lord Who Will Provide? Is He your Father? We must be careful not to make God into an "it" or a "thing" to which we pray. He is our Jehovah Raah, the Lord our Shepherd. God knows us by our name, shouldn't we know Him by His?
1. God desires to reside in the hearts and minds of his people.
2. God desires to fellowship and communion with his people.
3. God is aware of all we face, and what we are going through in life. He is also the answer to all our problems and needs we face.
4. God is watching and waiting for the opportunity to be invited into his creations heart.
5. God is still God. God still speaks. God still heals. God still fills. God still answers prayer. God still sets free. God still saves. Yes Life is hard, but God is Good.
6. God is calling you by name. Can you hear it? Will you hear it? It's the call that will change your life and perhaps the lives of others!
