What Is Your Purpose In Life?
What Is Your Purpose In Life?
Application:
The center of our lives should not be on ourselves.
No Christian should consider himself his own master.
He is not at liberty to do what he pleases.
The idea of having a “Lord” in our lives means that we have someone who is sovereign over all events and situations that come into our experience.
We belong to Him in time and eternity. He has the right to scrutinize everything we do. We are His entirely.
JESUS IS OUR SAVIOR - HE IS OUR LORD - HE IS OUR GOD.
Jesus saved us by grace. Salvation is His gift of grace to all who believe in Him, through faith.
The price He paid for us was His own life and as believers we should be living unto the Lord, living to please our Savior for the honor of His name and to the glory of God.
We belong to Him and we stand or fall before Him alone.
Rom 14:8 If we live, we live to honor the Lord; and if we die, we die to honor the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
Romans 14:8 is another clear picture we see in God’s Word that a follower of Jesus is not someone for whom Jesus is part of their life. No, a follower of Jesus is someone for whom Jesus is their life.
Everything in their life revolves around Him. Everything we think, everything we desire, everything we say it’s all focused on Him.
What does it mean to Honor God?
Honoring God is NOT something we do as Christians out of a sense of duty or to gain His favor.
Rather, it is a daily expression of recognition, respect, and gratitude towards the One who loved us when we were sinners and His enemy.
It not only right then that we honor the One who took us out of the darkness of despair, saved us from eternal damnation, and gave us new hope through the light of His forgiving mercy and grace?
Why Should We Honor God?
King David wrote in Psalm 27:14 (AMPC), “What would have become of me had I not believed that I would see the Lord’s goodness in the land of the living!”
God loved us before we loved Him by sacrificing His only Son Jesus for us. If not for His sacrifice on the Cross, we would still be held spiritually captive by our own sins and be destined to spend eternity in damnation under the will of Satan.
Isn’t that reason enough to honor Him?
Mankind Has Failed to Honor God
When Moses went to Mount Sinai to receive God’s commandments, the Israelites turned from God and worshiped a golden calf idol made from molten jewelry and ornaments.
Romans 1:21 describes this well: “For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
Mat 15:7 You hypocrites! How well did Isaiah prophesy of you when he said, 8 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 Their worship of me is empty, because they teach human rules as doctrines.'"
What does it mean to Honor God?
To honor God means first and foremost that you recognize Him as the highest authority in heaven and on Earth.
Recognizing that we, as humans, are sinners, therefore, we need the mercy, grace, and power of a loving Savior to love, protect, and guide us on our life journey.

Honor God with Your Heart

Honor God with Your Lips
His majesty deserves our praise.
Therefore, honor God by verbally expressing your gratitude for His goodness additionally, lift your voice in song and worship Him
(Psalm 95:1; Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Colossians 3:16). Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
Honor God with Your Life
You may be the only Bible that someone will ever read, so try and live a life that reflects God’s love and teachings.
Show kindness to others (Ephesians 4:32), serve the church your community (Philippians 2:4), and help the needy and the oppressed (Psalm 82:3).
Instead of glorifying yourself through the pursuit of self, glorify God (John 3:30).
Walk in love, obedience, and trust. Forgive others, just like God forgave you.
Honor God with Your Finances
Everything you have — your car, your house, your job — has been given to you by God. Therefore, show Him that you are grateful for His provision by offering Him a tithe of your earnings every month.
YOU CANNOT OUT GIVE GOD
Honor God by Sharing His Word with Others
As children of God, we have all been called to spread the Word of God to others (Matthew 28:19). Therefore, ask God what you can do to share His Word with others.
